CANOEING & KAYAKING

Shelburne Harbour and surrounding rivers are a wonderful place to canoe or kayak.  Shelburne County is home to many tranquil, gentle and beautiful flatwater rivers and also boast some challenging whitewater rivers as well.  The Tobeatic Wilderness  can involve a 1:1 ratio of paddling to portaging, here you will have an experience like no other as you explore our UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
You may catch a glimpse of some of our local wildlife such as, beaver, muskrat, white tail deer, osprey and eagles, black bear, coyote and an array of ducks on your adventures.  Generally April and May are our high water months.  Canoes may be rented and canoe trips scheduled at Portage Canoe Works.  Phone 902-637-1676 for more details.  You can also rent canoes at Spencer's Garden Centre on Ohio Road in Shelburne. Phone 902-875-3055 for more information.
