The 6th
Annual Birding
& Nature Festival on the Lighthouse
Coast, Nova Scotia is scheduled for March 28-30,
2008.The
festival is designed to be attractive to avid and casual
birders and nature lovers. The festival begins Shelburne County with a
lecture and Seafood Supper followed by the Brant Goose Flyaway.
Saturday is filled with
birding excuersions, three meals, presentations and the famous Brant
Bird Flyaway. Program
activities at the Festival

In
a recent
study about the prospects for birding tourism in Nova Scotia,
commissioned by the South Shore Tourism Association and sponsored in
part by Nova Scotia Tourism, Culture and Heritage, Shelburne County was
identified as one of the primary birding areas in the Province. The Cape Sable Important Bird Area
was designated
as one of the top three birding sites in Nova Scotia. Queens County
also features some spectacular and unique birding spots including
Thomas Raddall Provincial Park, Kedji Seaside Adjunct Park, and The
Port Joli National Migratory Birding Sanctuary.
