A letter is being sent to board members who have not yet sent their memberships dues. Waiting for membership of Raymond Davis of Cape Cod Motel and Al Delaney for the Town of Shelburne. It was suggested invoices be sent out again.

Birdfest

The 2008 Birding festival will take place March 28-30.

Some advertising is being done. Meetings to plan programming will begin in the new year. Festival will feature lectures, bird tours and meals. A Kitchen Party, as was done last year, was suggested.

Tourism Product Development Day

Happened on October 25 sponsored by the Development Authority and Destination South West Nova. Discussed were possible product development in Shelburne and Queens County. Now meeting should be put in place to developing these ideas. But who wants to volunteer? A Tourism coordinator needs to be hired to address these development and planning issues.

Tourism 2008

Four directors met with Frank Anderson of the South West Shore Development Authority to talk about the two associations having a tourism coordinator. Frank will continue to talk with the municipalities, specifically Barrington, about sharing the cost with the RDA. Plans will be made for other municipal governments in Shelburne County to help cover the costs of such an employee. Eventually the RDA will be phased out of the equation and those participating governing bodies will have to cover the costs of the employee. This is how the RDA ids working in the Yarmouth and Clare area.

For now Frank wants DSCTA to create at least 4 priorities for this tourism coordinator to do.

FAM Tour

Members are asked if there should be a FAM Tour planned for Spring 2008.

Need volunteers to plan.

Who do we invite to the Tour?

Will discuss further at next meeting.

VIC Retirement

Two long time employees of Shelburne VIC and Lockeport VIC have moved on to other projects and have since retired form their VIC work. It was motioned by Pat that a gift worth $30 each be purchased for each employee as thanks for their great work. Seconded by Howard.

Meeting adjourned at 5:30pm
