MUNICIPALITY OF BARRINGTON
Home
to 9 time World Champion Log Roller, Phil Scott and his nephew, 4 time
World Champion Log Roller, Darren Hudson! Incorporated in 1879,
the Municipality of Barrington is located on the southwestern tip of
Nova Scotia. Home to a wealth of fishing villages, sand beaches,
museums and many heritage building. The Municipality of Barrington is the Lobster Capital of Canada.

Located
on Cape Sable Island, Clark's Harbour is a small fishing town featuring
museums, grocery store, gas stations, West Head Take Out (home to the
best deep fried clams around!), accommodations and many wharves.
Home to Shelburne County's Capital of Baseball and home of the
"Foggies".

Explore
Cape Sable Island's four white sandy beaches, it's famous Important
Bird Areas and the birthplace of the work horse of the Atlantic; the
"Cape Islander" fishing boat. Stop by the visitor information
centre in Clark's Harbour to learn more about this island, filled with
history and culture for you to discover. Some important points of
interest are the Archelaus Smith Museum, Seaside Heritage Centre, The
Drowned Forest (The Hawk, CSI), West Head Wharf and North East Point
Beach.

Explore
the beautiful town of Shelburne. Take a stroll along Dock Street, home
to many museums and historic homes. Shop in the downtown stores
and dine in some of the finest restaurants around. Shelburne is home to the third largest natural harbour in the world and a Loyalist settlement.

Municipality of Shelburne offers it's visitors many things to see
including lighthouses, beaches, fishing villages and lots of friendly
people you will meet along the way. Take a walk along one of the
many walking trails, bicycle the scenic roadways, fish in our lakes and
rivers or go golfing at River Hills Golf & Country Club in Clyde
River, one of the most beautiful golf courses in Nova Scotia.
Visit Birchtown, where you can take in the first freed black
settlement in North America. There is so much to see and do here!

The
Town of Lockeport offers all the ameneties and all within walking
distance. Enjoy fresh seafood at several restaurants.
Unwind and relax in the quiet and peaceful surroundings or enjoy
various local recreational facilities. Children may use nearby
playgrounds. There are basketball and tennis courts as well as
several smaller beaches to explore & all within town. The
people are friendly and always willing to chat about the history of the
area and to give advice on what to see and do. We pride ourselves
on how peaceful, safe and unspoiled the area is.
While in the area, take advantage of the LOCKEPORT LOOP , a scenic byway, you will be glad you discovered!
| | HOW TO GET HERE |  | Nova
Scotia is a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water and Shelburne
County is located on the western South Shore. This provides us
with some of the most scenic coastline vistas in the world.
Seaside fishing villages, isolated inlets and beaches a plenty
await the traveler. We are literally "thrust" into the
Atlantic Ocean at the very eastern tip of Mainland Canada. Follow
the Trans-Canada Highway, Interstate 95, or a host of routes from
the New England States and Quebec through New Brunswick to Nova Scotia
and ....on to Shelburne County. From Prince Edward Island, you
can take the Confederation Bridge or the ferry from Wood Islands, PEI
to Caribou, NS. |  | There
is also a car and passenger ferry service from Saint John, New
Brunswick to Digby, Nova Scotia. A short drive to Shelburne
County.
If you are traveling from Newfoundland, you will enter Nova Scotia in North Sydney via ferries from Port aux Basque or Argentia. Reservations are recommended for some of these voyages,
