Your Nova Scotia vacation couldn't be spent in a better place than Shelburne County, the "heart of the South Shore".  Many who visit us come back again, some to make their homes here.  Our secret to hospitality....it's in our nature!

The Lighthouse Route journeys through an unforgettable landscape of coastal beauty and historic charm that has captured the hearts and minds of travelers for generations.
In June, the county Lobster Festival gets under full swing. July is full of events featuring the annual Founders' Days , Women's Harmony Bazaar featuring Rita MacNeil and Melanie Doane, plus Canada Day celebrations in Clarks Harbour and Lockeport, regattas and sail races,  the waterfront Parade of Lights. In August Shelburne County is host to two exhibitions,  Lockeport Sea Derby, and the Shag Harbour UFO Incident Festival. September features our very own Whirligig Festival and Lights Along the Shore.  All year long watch our events page for community breakfasts and suppers, plus live music & theatre at the Osprey Arts Centre all year long.

Just one hour drive from the Cat Ferry from Bar Harbor and Portland, Maine and about two hours from Halifax, the area features pristine beaches, fresh water rivers, woodlands and ocean vistas. It is rich in history and alive with arts and culture.

Here you can find wonderful places to stay, activities , including kayaking, boating, guided walking tours, museums, shopping & dining. Nearby there are terrific birding spots, lighthouses and beaches

Visitors come from throughout the world to vacation in Nova Scotia and we know you'll love it here!
